Starting Sunday, November 12th, we will fill and provide plastic shoeboxes for children from 2-14 years old in Bluffton and the surrounding communities with your help! We will then work with our partners in the community to distribute them. All Operation Reach boxes must be returned to LCC by Sunday, December 10th. Visit the Missions & Outreach table in the Main Lobby to purchase your box for $1! Cards will be provided with additional details on how to pack and return your box correctly.
What goes in my Operation Reach box?
“Wow” item: Delight a kid! Start with a medium to large item that will capture the child’s attention the instant he or she opens the box. Ideas include: soccer balls with pump, stuffed animals, toys (puppets, trucks, etc.), doll (baby, Barbie, etc.), musical instruments, shoes, or similar items.
Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, and/or toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
School supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpeners, Crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, color and picture books, etc.
Hygiene items: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, deodorant, combs, washcloths, etc.
Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, costume jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
Crafts: Make your own items such as hair bows, finger puppets, friendship bracelets, and more.
Please do not include: Used or damaged items, war-related items such as toy guns, knives, chocolate or food, out-of- date candy, medications or vitamins, breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers, or aerosol cans.
