December 18: It Doesn't Have to Be a Mountain Top
Megan Paulk, Adult Ministry Coordinator
You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid: say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”
Isaiah 40:9, NIV
You think that as you age, you stop caring what others think. It is easy to share Pinterest boards, Instagram reals, and GIFs. However, when it comes to our relationship with Jesus, we don’t want to offend anyone. I often think, “Well, I do not want them to feel pressured, or perhaps they will stop talking to me if I come off as too “religious.” This Scripture is a message of joy to the people of Jerusalem; that they can start anew and that a Savior is coming; that their sins and their past do not define them.
This message is extremely needed in today's world. During this holiday season, I encourage you to tell others about Jesus. It does not have to be a shout from a mountain; perhaps you just planted a seed. Invite them to the Lowcountry Christmas Experience or Christmas Eve services!
How selfish are we to hold the one true answer to living water that nourishes our daily lives? When I need guidance in spreading His word, I say a quick prayer:
Dear God, I ask that you give me opportunities and courage to share the hope, joy, and love you provide for me every day of my life. Amen.
