December 20: God's Glory Shines Through

Kim Marshall, Executive Assistant to the Executive Pastor

”Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.

The Lord has spoken!”

Isaiah 40:5, NLT

There was a time in my life when I needed God’s glory to be revealed. My daughter, Gabi had developed three rare tumors in her body. I was shocked and devastated all at the same time. There is sin in this world, and bad things will happen. This world is dark and complex. God did not promise His people that there would not be suffering, but He did promise to send a Savior to be a light to us.

In the Old Testament, God uniquely revealed His glory. It appeared as a pillar of light by night and a cloud during the day. This visual was a reminder of God’s commitment to the Israelites during Moses’ day. Isaiah tells God’s people that this is not the culmination of God's glory but rather a continuation of His magnificent display of love and salvation.

Through my dark time with Gabi’s illness, I was reminded of hope through the Glory of our Lord. Just as God is so faithful to us, we must remain faithful to Him and be constantly reminded of His presence.

Lord, we thank you for your glory and for sending your Son, Jesus, as hope for us so that we may have a relationship with you and find true joy.
