December 7: Trusting God's Perfect Timing

Autumn Javery, Lowco Kids Coordinator

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer

has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John.”

Luke 1:13, NASB

When my family was ready to move to Bluffton, we finally found the perfect neighborhood, picked the lot, started to build, and put our house on the market! Easy, right? We thought it would be. But It took over a year for our home to sell and enable our move.

Have you ever had to wait on God for something? In this verse, Zechariah and Elizabeth had been waiting much longer than a year for God to answer their prayer for a child. We don’t know exactly how long they had been waiting, but we do know that they were older in age, meaning they had been waiting a while.

In both of these circumstances, the waiting was not easy. However, God knew the exact, perfect timing for both! My house sold, and we moved right into our forever dream home. The timing of John’s arrival allowed him to be Jesus’s cousin and best friend –fulfilling the prophecy as John the Baptist.

Why do we still doubt Him even after seeing what God can do? I pray that this Christmas season, whatever decisions you are waiting on, you remember God’s perfect timing and trust that He wants to share in jubilation with you when it all is fulfilled according to HIS plan!
