Relentless in Our World

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
- St. Augustine

Travel is something most of us relish, and for many of us, our travel adventures happen over the summer. The kids are out of school and we relish the longer holiday weekends of Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.

In essence, we go! We go to make last lasting memories, to share new experiences with those we love, and to stretch our boundaries of thinking in terms of culture, people—and even food!

Jesus also told us to go. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). What a challenge, what an adventure, what a calling!

As a church, we too are being relentless in going this summer. We have teams comprised of students, families, and adults heading to Savannah, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Italy. Some are going outside our region for the very first time. Others are seasoned travelers, stepping out in faith to radically experience new things in reaching others. In the pages of their lives, they are adding life-change to their experiences. That’s going with a purpose!

Wherever these summer months may find you, you can know that the Lord is already there and He is working. Be open to His call even if you think you are only there for recreation. While you are going, pray for our mission teams’ effectiveness, safety, and health. Pray for your church, your neighbors, our civic leaders, and our communities. Please pray for me too, as I pray for you. Let’s go!
