Life on Mission: Meet Jen

Jen Rowland calls LowCountry Community Church home and works on staff with United World mission in Brussels, Belgium.

I am a missionary with United World Mission and currently ministering in Brussels, Belgium. God has given me a passion for lost people in Europe. Brussels is the home of the European Union and NATO, and people from all over the EU come here. It is an amazing opportunity to reach people for Jesus through the whole European continent by being in just one city.

I meet people through the volunteer jobs I do with Serve the City and a church here called The Well. Serve the City connects people who want to help the homeless, refugees, and the infirmed to centers that help people or facilitate projects such as Breakfast4Refugees and Soup4theCity. STC project facilitation involves leading and sending volunteers out into the streets of Brussels looking for those in need, talking with them, and giving them some food. I have found that while we are serving and caring for the homeless, as we are called to do, I’m making a bigger impact for the kingdom with the person I serve alongside.

Many volunteers don’t know Jesus and serving with them has allowed me the opportunity to share the gospel, make new friendships, and invite them to Bible studies.

My role with the church also involves community outreach along with social media and multimedia for the church services. A team from Los Angeles is coming to hand out roses and talk to people about Jesus in different parts of the city. I’m the church contact person for them and will be part of their team as they come and serve for ten days. I also want to encourage and provide outreach opportunities for people inside my church to go out and serve.
