For Our Neighbors
The uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Irma is weighing heavy on all of us. Since the projected path is still unknown, we want you to know that as soon as we know the path and our plan as a church, you will be notified. We will send emails and keep our social media channels updated as frequently as possible, just like we did last year during the Hurricane Matthew evacuation. Follow our updates on Facebook and on Instagram. Stay updated on safety alerts by following direct updates from South Carolina, the Town of Bluffton and the Town of Hilton Head. To be notified of closures and cancellations affecting LCC, make sure you're on our News & Updates list*.
As we watch, wait, and prepare for Hurricane Irma and its effect on our community, use this as an opportunity to reach out to others. Talk to your neighbors—and lend a helping hand:
Help a neighbor board their windows.
Help others move patio furniture and other loose items inside.
Be cognizant of friends and neighbors that might need help preparing to leave or with making a plan for where to go.
Ask neighbors what you can do—make sure they have a plan for getting to safety. If they need help moving items to the second story of their home, be intentional and offer to help. If they need help getting items from the store for a potential evacuation, offer to get them when you're running errands to do the same.
People have a hard time asking for help, so be proactive in asking and lending a hand where you can. Find a need and meet it! If you need a full list of action items to prepare, please visit the National Hurricane Center's website for more information.
