I grew up in a small town in Upstate New York—seldom attending church—although I had an interest in the Bible as an adolescent. Pat and I began dating in high school, and following high school, I worked at General Electric, being trained for manufacturing supervision. At the age of 27, I trusted Christ and began a new direction. Almost three years later, I surrendered to His call for ministry; and after completing ministry study, we returned to the church where I was saved. I served there for 27 years before moving to the Lowcountry in 2004, when I began serving in various capacities at LCC. Pat and I have four wonderful children, each marrying godly spouses and growing our family with 12 grandchildren and now five great-grandchildren. God has blessed me far beyond what I deserve!
What’s the weirdest or most interesting job you have ever had?
Ministry is incredibly interesting; however, while in high school, I spent an interesting summer as a lifeguard at a beach in Upstate New York.
What job would you like to have if you were not working in ministry?
Either a charter boat captain or a financial planner.
Where is your favorite place to be?
Our previously owned cabin in the Adirondack Mountains, Blue Mountain Lake, New York.
What is your favorite movie?
I don’t have one favorite movie, but I especially enjoy nonviolent movies that make me smile.
What kind of music do you listen to?
Contemporary Christian or 60s rock.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite meat is chicken, my favorite cuisine is Italian, and my favorite dessert is chocolate cheesecake.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Lowcountry?
The warmth of the climate and the people, and the beauty of God’s creation.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Romans 12:1, 2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” God used a message from that text to help me realize I was not in His perfect will, and I ended my resistance to His call to serve in ministry.

God has graciously given me many opportunities to share His love and gift of salvation, helping people begin their spiritual journey with Christ.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I often skipped school to go snow skiing in Vermont or New Hampshire.
