Hannah’s Story: Finding Community
“Being a Christ-follower is not easy, but there's so much freedom and love and joy that Christ has to offer that nothing in this world can give us. The abundant life He gives is so amazing,” says Hannah Taylor, a Bluffton native and May River High School senior.
Hannah has attended LowCountry Community Church all of her life and was baptized at age 5. “In elementary school, I would share the gospel with my classmates, which was super amazing and fun, but I feel like in middle school, I kind of drifted away from that passion. And I experienced a lot of fear of being rejected and fear of standing out for being a Christian.”
So Hannah spoke with her mentor, who also attends LCC, and they both decided that she needed to make new friends. “If we come to God and ask Him for something, we better be serious because He is going to provide,” says Hannah. “It was just so cool to see that within the next few months, friends came from all around and supported me.”
Hannah had found her community at LCC. “I’ve had so many great leaders and friends at LCC, and I know I can trust them,” she explains. “They'll be with me as I continue to grow up, and when I move away and I’m not at LCC anymore, I know they will still be there for me.”
In the fall, Hannah plans on attending Anderson University, where she will pursue a degree in education. She says she would love to be a missionary and serve other people wherever she’s at. “Because of Christ, I know who I am and I know who He has called me to be, and the purpose that comes with that is just living in the abundant love that He has to offer.”
