With the Holiday Season comes the cozy charm of festive lights, the warmth of family and friends, the joy of shared memories, and the celebration of Jesus’ birth. The best part is that some of the most precious parts of this special time of year don’t cost a thing. Here’s a list of free, simple ways to get into the holiday spirit—whether you are solo, with friends, or with family.

Watch Classic Holiday Movies

Make Holiday Cards

There’s something genuinely heartfelt about a homemade card. Grab some paper, markers, crafting supplies, and let your creativity flow. This is a terrific activity for all ages and a meaningful way to extend messages of love to friends and family.

Attend a Local Holiday Festival or Parade

The Lowcountry loves s parade! Many towns host holiday parades or festivals that are free to the public. Bluffton and the surrounding areas will be full of fun festivities free of charge. Check your local event listings.

Create a Holiday Playlist

There’s no better way to get in the spirit than Christmas tunes! Make a playlist of your favorite holiday-inspired songs to enjoy throughout the season. Dance in the kitchen or simply let it play while you decorate or bake holiday treats.

Host a Cookie Decorating Party

Invite a few friends or family members to bring their favorite cookie recipes and enjoy a cookie-decorating session together. If you’re hosting, bake a simple batch ahead of time and let guests bring toppings like frosting, sprinkles, or candy. This is a fun way to celebrate and create delicious holiday treats.

Have a Hot Cocoa Night

Turn a collection of hot chocolate ingredients into an event! Add marshmallows, whipped cream, or even peppermint sticks if you have them. Bundle up, sip your cocoa, and enjoy the simple pleasure of a cozy evening.

Volunteer

Giving back is one of the most rewarding ways to celebrate the holidays. It’s a meaningful way to spread cheer and gratitude in your community. Consider local outreach opportunities through LCC or a church ministry partner.

Come to the Lowcountry Christmas Experience!

Bring the whole family to experience a night at the area’s largest walking trail of lights, free refreshments, live music, a live nativity scene, a petting zoo, and photos with Santa.
