God Offered Himself Up

God wants to be accessible to all people – especially to the least and lowest of us. Like a violinist playing in a train station, God made himself available to the masses so we can all enjoy the beauty of his gift.

John 10:11 (NASB)

11“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

John 10:16 (NASB))

16“I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

Psalm 23:6 (NASB)

6Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Luke 2:8-12 (NASB)

8In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.9And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;11for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.12“This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Discussion:

  1. What stood out to you from this week's sermon?

  2. What stand out to you in this passage?

  3. How did God make himself accessible to the shepherds?

  4. How does God make himself accessible to people in 2018?

  5. What is the difference between God imposing himself on people and inviting them to relationship?

  6. Why did Jesus come as a baby?

  7. Why would Jesus come as a baby to live a full life and then be crucified?

Application:

  1. God used the Heveanly Host to invite the shepherds to come and see Jesus, How does He invited people to Himself today?

  2. If the church is God's Plan A to reach the world, How are you apart of that plan?

  3. As a member of God's army how is He using you to invite the Lowcountry to come and meet the Savior?

  4. How were you invited to meet Jesus?

  5. Who invited you to meet Jesus?

  6. When was the last time you invited someone to meet Jesus?

  7. What did you say to introduce them to the story of Jesus?

  8. What is the name of someone close to you that needs to be invited to meet Jesus? Who's your one?

  9. How can you pray for that person?

Prayer:

Pray for those around you that God wants to invite into relationship. Pray that God would place the name of one person that you could share Jesus with.
