The Trust Test- Part Two

The moment you give God control, He begins to do things you could never do on our own. Your challenge is to take God’s Word at what He says, and trust Him completely.

Proverbs 27:23 (NASB)

23 Know well the condition of your flocks,
And pay attention to your herds;

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NASB)

18 But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Psalm 24:1 (NASB)

The earth is the Lord’s, and [a]all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.

Haggai 2:8 (NASB)

‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of hosts.

1 Corinthians 6:20a (NASB)

20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

John 3:16 (NASB)

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 4:2 (NASB)

In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.

Luke 16:10 (NASB)

10 “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.

Genesis 7:5 (NASB)

Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.

Genesis 22: 11-12 (NASB)

11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Joshua 5:1 (NASB)

Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until [a]they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the sons of Israel.

Malachi 3:8-12 (NASB)

8“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.9“You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. 11 Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says the Lord of hosts. 12 “All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the Lordof hosts.

Discussion:

  1. What do you learn about God from this passage?

  2. Who is the source of every financial gift we have?

  3. What do you learn about yourself from this passage?

  4. If God is the owner of all things what does that make us? Do we own anything?

  5. What have you learned about yourself so far in this series?

Application:

  1. What is the area in your life that you need to trust God with?

  2. How are you stewarding the things that God gives you? Your time? Your talent? Your treasure?

  3. Is God your source or do you trust in what you can provide?

  4. If it's God's first and he gives it to you, how do you manage or steward it for Him?

  5. RHETORICAL QUESTION: Am I going to live like the world and basically trust in myself and become independent and do my own thing, or am I going to live under the Biblical principles God has for me?

Prayer:

Father,

I thank You for the blessings You give us. God, You are the Blesser. Everything that we have comes from You. God, You have given us so much, You have blessed us and You call us to bring back the first tenth to You. We thank You for what you are doing in our church, how You are using people in our church to be a blessing to our community, to our nation and to the world. So, Father, as we prepare to bring back to You the ten percent that You call us to give, speak to our hearts. Speak to us that we need to take this challenge if we are to get zoned in. God, if you need to take us to the next level of living, then we invite You to do that. Can you, would you, just quietly pray right now, say, God, I want to do what You want me to do. We pray together in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
