The Parable of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl
Matthew 13:44-46
True treasure is found only in the kingdom of Christ.
OUTLINE
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44, NASB
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. Matthew 13:45-46, NASB
No value can ever be placed upon knowing Christ.
Spiritual truth is often concealed.
Salvation must be appropriated on a personal level.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24, NASB
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9-10, NASB
Jesus is the only way but people come to Him in different ways.
Some seem to almost unintentionally bump into the gospel and upon Christ.
Some people intentionally strike out in search of God - or so they think.
Salvation is free - but costly.
