December 11: A Faithful Yes
Tabitha Turner, Kids Director
“And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.'”
Luke 1:38
As I prepared to send my youngest child off to kindergarten, I envisioned a new phase of life unfolding before me. I had mapped out my plans and was excited to begin a new career—until everything changed. I found myself feeling uncertain and anxious about the future. In that moment, I sensed God urging me to release my tightly held plans and trust Him instead.
Mary, a young girl from humble beginnings, faced an extraordinary call from the Lord—to carry the Son of God, a task filled with unimaginable challenges. Yet, without hesitation, she responded, “let it be to me according to your word.” This was not just a simple “yes”; it was an act of profound faith—an unconditional trust in God’s plan, even when the future felt uncertain.
Mary’s story challenges us to consider our own willingness to trust God’s plans over our own. Are we ready to release our expectations and invite Him to guide us? This Advent week of faith reminds us that surrendering our plans can lead to deeper peace and purpose.
Let’s take a moment today to reflect on any dreams, plans, or desires we need to place in God’s hands. Like Mary, we can find freedom in saying “yes” to His plans, embracing His wisdom and grace. May we lean into our faith this season, trusting that God is working all things for our good, even when we cannot see the full picture.
Let us surrender our plans and trust in His divine purpose, knowing He is with us every step of the way.
